Wright Arms, LLC, is pleased to announce the hosting of the Texas License to Carry Course.  This course is designed and intended for those who know how to shoot a handgun and wish to obtain their Texas License to Carry (LTC) a handgun.  With a Texas LTC, you can legally carry your concealed or open-carry firearm throughout the state, except where prohibited by law.Texas License to Carry

The cost of the course is $90.00, which includes the range fee and a 10% discount on in-stock ammunition.  The licensing fees are separate and must be remitted by the participant.

We use the range at South Texas Tactical in Brownsville, located at 2100 Village Center Boulevard, Brownsville, TX 78526.

Before registering for the course, we suggest that you complete the background check per Texas DPS.  We also recommend that you practice the course of fire and be familiar with the weapon that you will use for the course.  Please note that no optical enhancers can be used by the student during the proficiency demonstration, which means no lasers, holographic sights, scopes, etc.  For successful completion of the course, an applicant must be able to demonstrate, at a minimum, the degree of proficiency that is required to effectively operate a handgun of .32 caliber or above.

3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.              South Texas Tactical, 2100 Village Center Blvd., Brownsville, TX

Please email [email protected] to register for the course.  When registering, include your full legal name, caliber and brand of weapon, and which class date in which you are attending.  We will confirm your registration via the email through which you registered.  Classes are limited to 20 participants.

We accept cash, credit/debit cards, and checks.  Please make checks payable to Wright Arms, LLC.  Payment is due on or before the class date.

An original (first-time) LTC applicant must complete classroom training, pass a written examination and pass a proficiency demonstration (shooting). All classroom and proficiency must be conducted by an LTC instructor certified by DPS. The classroom instruction may be a four to six hour course and must cover the four (4) statutory required topics:

  • Laws that relate to weapons and the use of deadly force
  • Handgun use and safety, including use of restraint holsters and methods to ensure the secure carrying of openly carried handguns
  • Non-violent dispute resolution
  • Proper storage practices for handguns with an emphasis on storage practices that eliminate the possibility of accidental injury to a child
